Frozen moonlight

Frozen moonlight

A Poem by Daniela Leça

I followed shadows into the night
They stayed still in front of the moonlight
Dark endless shapes, unborn and deformed.
They were whispering promises with sadness and fear
Echoes of tenebrous cries thought long dead

This shades surrounded my fate
They wanted to take me away
Away from the moonlight

I froze in front of it
They were coming
The wind threw me away
And I fell on my knees
I turned pale and stood still
I was cold sweating, loosing my mind
Thinking “Is this the time?”

The artful shades were surrounding me
Singing: “One day you'll be just like me,
Nothing more than memories”

Dreadful coldness on that darkest night
At that moment I felt half dead, half alive.
I was about to die and I knew it.
I tried to scream but no words were coming out
I was panicking inside
The scream died.

Daniela, you create a world of cold, hungry shadows that seem to have awakened from nightmares. These twisting, deformed beasts silence even the screams of a poet. Stunning write. xo

Wonderful poetry of the moribund. Your dark depth is much appreciated, dear poet.
Please keep sharing your moonlit creations.
