If The Sun Didn't Shine

If The Sun Didn't Shine

A Poem by Muffin<3
"

It slightly dark...

"
Night, it sucks you in
Never to let go
Until the sun decides to show

But what if the sun doesn't shine
What could contain the darkness
That is pleading to grow

What immortal barrier
Could save our darkened fate?
If the sun refused to show.

Would darkness rear
Upon all with fright
Would we succumb too our fate

Or would we drown in
A dark invading sea
To scream pleas on deaf ears

In the darkness of the night
What will happen
without a hint of light.

I prefer the darkness, but then again, it is what it is. Interesting thoughts.

I like the imagery here a lot, the use of light and dark, the constant battle is wonderful!
A brilliantly, moving poem love

As plelitte says, what this poem talks about is reality for those living near the north pole (if I am not mistaking only researchers inhabit the south pole). Regardless of the facts, the poem asks an interesting question. I'm sure the question of "If The Sun Didn't Shine", is hypothetical at the core and a metaphor for the state of mind of man.

Good job.

Nice, dark, and very intriguing! It really brings to mind the honest question of what would happen if we never saw the light of day again. Kind of reminds me of Alaska and places like that where the sun shines continious for a while and then the night takes over for the other portion of the time. What kind of life must that be? Great poem!

I never noticed someone else made the comparison to the sun rising and setting in the north pole. :)

Good write. What happens in the dark stays in the dark.

Sunrise at the South Pole is on about the 21st of September every year. Sunset is on about the 22nd of March the following year. The reverse is the case at the North Pole. So a polar day is about 6 months and a polar night is also about 6 months.

Now that's the closest your going to get to this...imagine seeing the sun rise after 6 months of darkness...awesome..nice piece
