Unnamed Soldier

Unnamed Soldier

A Poem by Seth
"

This poem is about war and greed. It shows what a solider goes through and how over in the U.S. people care about the election more than all the soldiers that are dying.

"

Hearts are pounding,

Blood is flying,

Soldiers screaming for their moms.

Heads are ringing,

Fire is burning,

As the unnamed solider marches on.

People fighting,

People dyeing,

As the infantry does what it's told.

No more friendship,

Just selfishness,

As the unnamed solider defends for his own.

And as the body count goes higher,

The unnamed solider fights through the fog,

And as the soldiers get tired,

Who’s the one who’s going to save them all?

Politicians fighting for power,

Saying their deceitful words,

Nothing here is getting done,

While a brother, father, uncle falls to the floor.

I really liked the final line - it reminds us that these soldiers ARE part of people's families, whether it be their brother, father, uncle, whatever. It really puts the war into perspective and it certainly doesn't get enough attention nowadays (or the soldiers don't anyway). Nice write. ^_^
