the other me

the other me

A Poem by Shifra

I got Caught in the nets of language
I was thrust forth into this world web
 mouth agape
eyes wide shut.

Ive lived as a mother
a wife
a daughter
a muse
 a martyr
I like none of these
but all facade has its beauty

from time to time
I fancy myself an artist
a writer
 a maker of images
a creator of lies and impressions

I wear a proud badge of discontent for my current state
but I spit shine my boots every morning
and I go walking
I put on my  sunglasses
and I endure the sensitivity I have to daylife.
......and so I am. every day
mouth agape
eyes wide shut
