No Gravity

No Gravity

A Poem by Tim M

When still small, we fastened ourselves to daydreams
        Like hot air balloons
And let fall the sandbags of doubt

    As we grew, the heat
        Unbridled
Scorched the sky with its fury
Visible now were the curves of our world
And the limitations that would force us to turn back

But even as the ants again became
        Old, familiar faces
And the basket frayed, rickety with wear

    Our feet touched the ground
    And knew no gravity
