Sometimes

Sometimes

A Poem by Danielle

Sometimes
It is as if we live in a cage
Of societies age
All throughout an endless rage
It can take a hold of you or me
All to easily
If we cease to see
How can we ever know
Of this friendless foe
Once so long ago
In this story of woe

Ya know how each person has a conscious mind and an unconscious...
Well, CG Jung noticed that society has a collective conscience and a collective unconscious.
In order to get people into the collective, they are sometimes "caged" just as this poem suggests.Yes, and this problem is quite old, goes back to the start of civilization. Well at least now we know who this "friendless foe" is, yup, just about everyone! Nice thinking, nice write.

I agree, society cages us sometimes. My favourite lines were :
"... How can we ever know
Of this friendless foe ..."
Very well executed.

Reminds me of my own poem I wrote about the way society confines and restricts individuality, "Anxiety of Society".

A good write :]
