mother earth

mother earth

A Poem by Shy
"

getting back to nature this april

"
in the morning, she gently wakes her songbirds
to let them know they may sing after months of bitter cold
her breeze kept me cool during nights of heartache
headache pounding, cheeks flushed, eyes puffy
i left my window open for her

in spring, she gives me her rain
she defrosts the earth to breathe life back into the flora
to gently wake from slumber the fauna
flowers bloom and the earth grows greener
as the rain falls, it absolves me from my melancholy
she breathes life back into me
sometimes, i keep my umbrella tucked away for her

in summer, she dots my nose with kisses
a memento she gives me
to remind me that there was once light on my skin
in moments where it feels too dark
i remember her, i do
she remembers me, too
