I wish I were herA Poem by shewritesEnvy of the old
I wish I were her.
Grey curls draping over her ears. Skin weighs down, the wrinkles of her work. A long life lived. Her battle fought. Children grown. Battle scars shown. Exhaustion puts its head to rest. It's her time, you see. I wish it could be me. Peacefully drifting out of sound. She's lays her head to rest. Eyelids heavy, they've done their best. She's happy with where she's been. She hopes the best for the ones she loves. They hurt to see her go but bittersweet is the way it goes. Her misery and aches are put to bed. Escaping her body, bound for too long. Slipping out she slides. She escapes into freedom leaving this pain behind. © 2011 shewrites |
