Impossible Dreams

Impossible Dreams

A Poem by Shev

It's easy to dream an impossible dream

Easy to describe how everything would change

If you could only touch a star

If you could hold a rainbow in your hand

Because you could traverse the heavens for all of your life

And if you never caught a beam of sunlight

No one would be disappointed

But what if somehow the skies opened

And flashes of colors spilled into your open arms

If a twinkle of a star fell into your pocket

And a beam of sunshine blinded you

Until all you could see are your dreams coming true

If everything you wanted was right in your grasp

.And suddenly, it was up to you

?What would you do

This is an existential fairytale! I like it a lot. The impossible dream of holding light in your hands is an overarching metaphor for many other impossible dreams-this poem is sweetly written, and it really makes you think. Well done! Keep writing, and welcome to WritersCafe! :)
