The Wisdom of Him

The Wisdom of Him

A Poem by Sher{alynn} Veron{ica}

in the crimson of the night
when the lights went dim, and a great delight
the shadow of a man lay standing
with a glass in his hand
and smile on his lips
then he bid me adieu and pleasures anew
and as i analyzed him through and through
this is what i discovered
his eyes were clear with a glaze of blue
his conversation smart and full of wit
he teases and taunts yet knows his limit
with a noble brow
and a humble soul
he carries himself well into the unkown
i admire his taste for adventure
he reminds me of myself
with every gesture
his wisdom inclined with that of his age
betwixted the heart he fell asunder
a thousand hurts he might have born
a loss of loved ones left forlorn
yet i like to think that when the time is right
we could be something more
than dance in the gift of light
maybe sway to the drum of a future lesson
but till than i shant indulge
in the thrill
of what could possibly be
for now, i would like to just simply live.
