my dark skinA Poem by Kopa...You hate the colour, It disgusts you to see someone of this nature, Chimpazee and monkey they have used to describe my outlook, Crazy and retarded they have refered to this race of mine, Hatred and shame i have had to live by, This my black skin have caused murders, pre-meditated, Parents have grown their children to dispise this skin type, Mothers too. But, upon all the struggle i have risen, Bigger than the monkey i have been referred to, Wole soyinka, Martin Luther, and Barack Obama i have produced, Great walls of love i have built for those that have dispised and perished my race, How else to be a better person, Upon the hatred and degrading i have risen, far greater than this, Upon hard work and striff my sweat have ushered me and my people into a new age of prosperity, An age where i am not only good enough as a slave, An age where i have my worth as a human to those who never saw me as such, I have risen, above hate and redicule, I am here now, Still coated with that God-Given black skin, The race once considerd less human, I still strive to prove my humanity plus sanity, This is my dark skin, which i proudly wear, Not Yours!!! © 2014 Kopa...Author's Note
