Bland Flight

Bland Flight

A Chapter by Sylver Marcus

Marmee took one last glance at the empty, hollow rose-beige colored walls. Marmee had picked the color out herself when she was seven when the whole third floor was being remodeled because of the leak on the fourth floor. Bumps and bruises along the lines were reminders of joy and pain in Marmee’s childhood. Between these four rather large walls once held fairytale themed slumber parties, and sleepovers. These were memories of Marmee’s sweet childhood. Marmee took a deep breath and sharply exhaled as she turned around, like she should and could move on unlike her less matured sixteen year old triplet sisters, who were wearing all black (nope not even a blinged out earbud!) in obvious despair and mourning to moving away form their beloved princess palace. They used Hermes scarfes to wipe leaking mascara. Rosaline their mother was packing boxes up into the sleek silver Mercedes that was a sweet sixteen gift from their father Benjamin who was stomping the for sale sign into the freshly cut lawn, that officially marked an ending an beginning of the Livingston’s life. Now the Livingstons estate was now and officially for sale.

“How much longer?” complained Violet from the backseat of the helicopter. But no one heard her since everyone had to wear special earmuffs to protect their ears form the sound of the helicopter. “Arrgh!” grunted Violet, uncrossing her arms and turning her head to get a view of the shoreline outside of Pracelet City, a couple counties east of Thimbelton, but the only view Violet saw was the view of the sides of the triplets blinged out earmuffs. They were covered in multicolored rhinestones and a couple sequins around the ears as trimming. Violet rolled her eyes as dramatically as possible as a last ditch effort for attention, and re-crossed her arms and turned to look out of her left side window.

After much longer in the air, Violet was soon fast asleep as was Benjamin, and Rosaline, and Cassandra, and Marie, and Nora, but Marmee was wide awake when the captain made the announcement. A smooth clear voice rigged into the headphones, interrupted the flight’s movie, which was Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, for Violet. (Not that it mattered since everyone was fast asleep. Except for Marmee. “Hello Livingston family, this is your Captain speaking, we will be landing in roughly twenty-five minutes so please, get ready for landing. Thank you, that is all,” there was a barely audible click and the movie restarted, “the princess must marry before taking the throne…

Benjamin and Rosaline awoke suddenly and Benjamin sat u right and fixed his suit pants and retucked his shirt, and cleared his throat. Rosaline simply smoothed out her Sunday Versace and retied her ponytail. Violet stirred but didn’t wake. “we are now preparing to land, make sure to fasten your seatbelts if they aren’t buckled, and hold on to something durable.” Then the descending started not only with the helicopter but with Marmee’s future as well.
