A View from John's Red Ford Truck

A View from John's Red Ford Truck

A Poem by Shelley Warner
"

from the series "Adventures with John in his Red Ford Truck"

"

We drive the back roads on a day in May

I look out upon fields of daisies and fields of scotch broom

I even see some lupine in shades of vivid red and purple

And the sun smiles upon them

“There’s a cool truck,” John says

I look and see a shiny blue classic in the green grass

We point out other parked vehicles, some for sale

And the sun beams upon them

We see goats, cows, and sheep in the fields

"And there’s some alpacas," John points out,

"One of them is shaggy and needs shearing."

And the sun greets all the animals

We’ve seen a lot of places on days in May

John in his travels and me in mine,

But we agree there’s none as special as the Pacific Northwest

And I smile as the sun bathes us in good will

The magic of a day in May, driving through the picturesque back roads of the Pacific Northwest. The fields of daisies, scotch broom, and colorful lupine, all illuminated by the sun's warm glow. The presence of goats, cows, sheep, and even shaggy alpacas adds to the enchantment of the journey. A delightful ode to nature and the region's special charm. Loved it 😊

Thank you so much, I appreciate your review.
Ah yes the Pacific northwest is magnificent, no doubt; my son lived there for 22 years and we visited every summer... and loved it, even went to the Islands....so what you portray is in my mind at this moment.... a beautiful day in May to travel the mountains, valleys and fields ; agree!!
Nice write!

Thank you Betty, I'm glad it brought back special memories for you
Hello Shelley. I do enjoy reading about your travels in John’s truck. May is such a beautiful time, when flowers in the fields are at their best. How great to see alpacas. I saw some in a country park last Saturday. We don’t have many over here. My grandson thought they were wonderful. Pacific Northwest certainly sounds a great place to visit. The sunshine is a bonus. Hope you are ok Shelley. All good wishes.

Thanks, I appreciate that affirmation.
I have to totally disagree...I saw that shiny blue classic....I have seen places exactly like this...with vintage cars in the fields juxtaposed to the animals described...and the dialogue takes me back to my Vermont days.
This is a snapshot....not necessary to relate exactly to what is shown here...
a snapshot or a painting...my mom used to paint these kinds of scenes.
I definitely relate to this...
