We get greedy bullying seagulls visiting.
They frighten most garden birds off except for the scavenger crows who strut around totally unfazed by the squabbling argumentative gulls.
The crows are great cleaners up of insects, especially ants
Turning over dead leaves and eating anything and everything they find.
I'm sure that they actually converse with each other.
And you work?
" experiment with triplets & rhyme scheme "
It looks good to me.
Bringing, as it does, memories and parallels for others to chime with.
As this has done.
Regards from Rew.
I find it beautiful, although my appreciation of poems is very limited. I have been hardly reading or trying to understand poems except for the textbook poems in my school and college days! Ha! Ha! Now that most of the writers on this platform are poets I must haul up my 'understanding to appreciate' levels!!

The Jay-Bird family is one of my favorites, if for no other reason, it is for their cleverness housed in humor. And the same goes for this poem, clever, soothing to read, and all the while it brought memories worth a smile. --- Thanks for a nice stroll through your yard.
I thought the rhyme scheme was well executed and the content was endearing. I put unsalted peanuts in the shell out for our squirrels and the blue jays snatch up about half of them. They seem to relish any type of nut or seed but are too big to hang on the bird feeder like chickadees and cardinals. I enjoyed the read. F.

I like your ideas for feeding the squirrels and birds too. Right now, I've been putting out suet cakes that go in a little feeding cage that I hang in a bush. I'll have to pick up some unsalted peanuts.
So lovely :) A season that is a favourite for myself too - this is a lovely form Shelley and the imagery grants the reader pause into another world :) Beautifully described...
My favorite season, also, and for many of the reasons you describe. It's not just the sights of Autumn, but the smells, too. Your poems are as enjoyable as your stories. Strange, but I don't think I've seen a Blue Jay in months.

Me too dear Shelley. I like the month of Halloween. Life seem to slow down and the children are having some fun. I enjoyed your description for the month. Nature does change. Thank you dear friend for sharing the amazing poetry and your thoughts.

We have many blue jays here & I could just visualize those pumpkin guts & how much some birds would get off on finding that! I throw my garden refuse over the fence & onto this dirt expanse where wildlife can pick it over. Love the attitude of sharing in your message (((HUGS)))

I'm always ribbing my dogs for not being better protectors! *smile*

I like to write about my life. Sounds a little narcissistic, right? But it's the challenges, the griefs, the joys, the faith struggles, and the enjoyment of nature that inspires me. I have published t.. more..
