A very Saudade poem, i could feel the eccentric sense of sentiments and nostalgia while reading it. A very cherubic and glorious poem expressing such raw emotions. Absolutely wonderful!
Endearing write Shelley. I am so pleased you have found love and happiness again with John after your loss. Action, far more important than words when it comes to loving. How easy and quick it is to utter three words. Takes far more time and effort to demonstrate real love. I think you have struck lucky here and I am wondering what a special weekend will bring :) Honest poetry. Delightful read.

I had my granddaughter with me (my grandson was gone camping with his uncle). We enjoyed a nature drive, putting a big puzzle together, sitting on his front deck while our dogs ran around, and watching tv. This weekend, both my grandkids are going with their aunt and uncle and we get a weekend alone.
How we wait with bated breath, just to hear those three words! The scenarios you depicted were wonderfully expressed and filled me with the euphoric thrill of love.
just marvellous, humorous and touching and very honest . we all want to hear the words when really the actions show so much better . but then to hear the words too... sublime ...love it.

We went to youth group activities together and kissed in the back seat of the youth leader's car. We didn't stay together and later, my family moved away. I'd heard that he got married and I did too. A few years after I lost my husband, I woke up thinking about John and his sister, who'd been my good friend. I found his sister on facebook and learned from her that he had lost his wife after 50 years of marriage. Soon, she came to visit me in Idaho and she brought him. He and I began a long distance relationship and eventually I moved back to Washington, close to my family and closer to him.
These deeply personal words reflect the beauty of poetry in the purity of its art form. These are the most human moments defining love. Thank you Shelley for sharing your work with us and the truth from where it draws its inspiration.
I like to write about my life. Sounds a little narcissistic, right? But it's the challenges, the griefs, the joys, the faith struggles, and the enjoyment of nature that inspires me. I have published t.. more..
