A New TraditionA Poem by Shelley WarnerA celebration of love and nature. We are new. So we started a new
tradition. Every time we
adventure out on nature drives and
nature hikes, we pull out the
phone and take selfies. We’ve immortalized ourselves
in front of waterfalls, rivers, flowers, trees, and in a replica of
an eagle’s nest. The first time we
photographed ourselves, in front of the
fountain at Albertsons Park, in Boise, Idaho, someone walked by
and smiled. I beamed. No longer was I
alone. Well, I hadn’t been
alone these four years, since my husband
died. I had the
grandkids. But there are
different kinds of being alone. We hadn’t even
kissed yet. There would be more
nature walks and more nature
drives, and more nature
selfies. And yes, lots of
kissing And lots more. © 2021 Shelley WarnerReviews
