MY NIGHTMARE

MY NIGHTMARE

A Poem by MJ

My Nightmare

You told me... so

And ya…and go

And I ran…

Muffling my cries through

 Dimly lit halls

Of swinging lights

And missing walls

Running fast and frantic

from the sounds of drip drops and howls...

 running into ghosts

 hidden in Haunted rooms

And bloody Baby doll clothes hanging in the closets...

 It made me Claustrophobic

Each door lead to another and another

Until the stair became visible, leading down

And I couldn’t or better yet wouldn’t

even conceive of the notion it imposed,

so I rattled the attic door that supported my back

I heard movement across the floor boards …

illuminating light sealed in nails.

…and in the maze you appeared in every

Corner… cold and unfeeling, domineering

I would say I love you

You would say so…

I would say do you really mean that?

 You would say ya…

I would say I’m leaving

 You would say go…

And go I would…skidding out the gravel drive

Pretending not to see her reflection in the attic window pane.
