2009 Prayers and Good Wishes

A Poem by Shelly Araujo

2009 Prayers and Good Wishes

Look ahead in two thousand and nine,

To family, friends, and good times.

To new beginnings and time that heals all,

For love, and life, and times to recall.

Live for the moment, let yesterday go.

Let dreams rule the future that you hold.

For in our dreams we can find our place,

Where anything is possible in our rat race.

Live not for all the money and power that can acquired,

For as we have seen, it can be gone in an hour.

Find the gleam once twinkling in young eyes,

The hope and dreams that filled our young lives.

Forgive past hurts and things done wrong,

Waste not time on pain from the days gone.

For all have suffered in the world,

And love and forgiveness know the cure.

So here’s to you in two thousand and nine,

To your family, your friends, and many good times.

To another new beginning and time that heals all,

For new is the time and now is the call.

So stand and be ready, let not this chance pass,

To you and your dreams I raise my glass.

First take a deep breath and look to the light,

Open your heart and let go the fight.

For prayers and good wishes give us the start,

Make possible the dreams we hold in our heart.

They give us the wings and will to rise above,

And step out into a world we would rule by love.
