Prologue
My favorite question is when someone comes up me and asks,"so, has it gone by fast? The year? Because I can't believe their a year old already?" Usually I shake my head, a defeated shake of the head that is, and nod a little bit. And just tell them straight faced,"NO! This has been one of the longest years of my entire life." They most always laugh or giggle and say,"O come on!" I just look at them without saying a word, staring deep into their soul. As if, I'm telling them telepathically," to put themselves in my shoes and ask that same question?" I can see the look come over their face and their saying to themselves now,"this has been one of the longest years of his life." Then the conversation moves on to sports or weather, or anything else other than this.
You see, I wasn't out fighting a battle in a foreign land. Sandstorms hitting me in the face. Nor was I a high powered lawyer trying my best, to have a jury convict a person of murder.
No, I was at my home waging a war on diapers, baby formula, spit-up, three babies and let's not forget the dreaded, black poop.
