CowboyA Poem by horsedreamer
As he stands above the chute,
Just inches away from a bull He says a prayer before lowering himself into the chute. He hears excitement in the crowd, All eyes on him. He makes sure of his rope, One hand tied, the other held high in the air. He nods his head, and says "Okay boys." They were off. Two thousand pounds beneath him, Bucking, leaping, and spinning. The ground trembles as the bulls hooves collide with the dirt. The bull tries to throw him, But the cowboy knows this ride ain't free. Then, the sound of the buzzer Is like the bells of heaven. He made the ride. He doesn't ride for glory, or for fame. Not for the money either. It's for his love of rodeo, And the lifestyle that follows. He's a cowboy, That's all he's ever been, and all he'll ever be. © 2013 horsedreamerFeatured Review
