The Dance

The Dance

A Poem by horsedreamer

Everyone standing around the dance floor,
Just talking.
I thought this was supposed to be a magical night,
One that'd we would remember forever.

This night seemed so gloom,
Then he walked up to me.
He looked me in the eyes and asked me to dance.

Although I can not dance, and he was not much better,
I was once told,
"If your dancing with someone you really care about,
Every dance is the perfect dance."

And it was,
This night went from dull,
To us being the only ones out on the floor,
Slow dancing,
Everyone was watching.
But we didn't mind.

He looked down at me,
And told me he loved me.
Something that would not have happened If I said no to
The dance.

Of all the pieces I've read, you paint a good picture of what this kind of romance is. The one tiny yes that opened a gigantic treasure room. I really liked this one.
