Goodbye Freedom

Goodbye Freedom

A Poem by horsedreamer

Every footprint that our settlers have left, there was a hoof print right beside it.
Mustangs are our last connection to true freedom, and what this country was built on.
They stood by our men in the line of duty.
They roamed the open range.
Now, everyone sees mustangs as a waste of grass,
A wild animal that can't be tamed, therefore they are "worthless."
But, who was there shaping the country, one step at a time.
Those mustangs.
Where is their credit in a history book?
Horses are seen as just another creature.
But they are much more than that.
They have strived to please for as long as their existence,
They have been there every step of the way.
But, who are the ones being slaughtered?
It isn't the men in those books,
It's the majestic and wild spirit of the Mustangs.

I too love and believe in the Mustang's Spirit. It does trouble me how the reality you bring forthe about the betrail of man against horse. Yes horses have been a partner in our country's delevopment. Great write.
