Unavailable Love

Unavailable Love

A Poem by Shelly Bell

Inside I anticipate his coming like Jesus on Sunday morning.
I wish for his presence like hopeless pennies at the bottom of fountains
My emotions are free flowing energy
I just need to drink from him once
When we touch his skin kisses me within

My King
I am liberated by the vibrations of our communication.
Body language
Native tongues to our souls
The only control I fight to gain
is over the fact that this may result in pain
That I could never have your last name
That this water could contaminate me like wells in foreign countries
But our connection leaves me no choice, so I drink
Like them I have no voice so I think

I imagine
Your aura crucifies my skin committing suicide of my flesh
I transcend earth and meet you in the sun.
We stand in the middle of the universe,
while the dancing gods entertain us.
Neptune, Mars, Venus, Mercury, Saturn, Jupiter, Earth and Uranus
We watch in muse.

Tossing Pluto between us,
Calling each other silly names
Like Capricorn and Aquarius
Under Saturn’s rule
Earth and Air
The entire universe is in our care
Though we can only indulge in this
For moments
It’s not fair to have to ignore it

It’s too bad we wake up human everyday,
And the fact that this can’t be physically
Is our dismay…
