Where God Is

Where God Is

A Poem by Shelly Bell

standing here with my arms by my side...
I tilt my head back and my heart opens wide...
I feel you as the wind collides with my soul....
your love keeps me warm even though the air is so cold...
I can't see you, yet my faith is strong in knowing you're there....
as long as I can feel you I don't care.....
I close my eyes and let down my hair....
an exhale so deep that I lose my breath...
I lay on your paper exhausted,
split your pen in two, let me use it as wings to fly to you....

wrap my head in your ink....
be the words in my sub-conscience before I can even think....
let me sip until the tip of your pen is hollow...
cloth me with your punctuation....
your pronunciation I will follow....
your blood is the electricity that makes my eyes glow....
when I look up at strangers they see your flow....
embedded in a world beneath my breast....
you jump into my sea because you don't mind getting wet...
the unknown feels so good we don't care what to expect....

I can't see this ever being over.....
I can't see us ever wanting to be sober....
apart from this drunken moment of kisses....
just call me you and call you me, no need for the use of Mr. or Ms....
we are ONE, in the ONE that we are, is where God is....
