The Insane Have No Reason To Lie

The Insane Have No Reason To Lie

A Poem by Shayla Sayer
"

Those without a firm grasp on reality... They seem to come in-and-out, like a radio with bad reception. I hope I captured that well.

"

The Insane Have No Reason to Lie

Bubbles boil beneath the surface

And the black walls rise, a blood bath

Sate its hunger

Before the world is devoured in wrath.

Sick of staring of meaningless words

Concentration shifts to the sky

A pane of glass separates from freedom

And you will never learn to fly.

Joy is fleeting, as is happiness

The smiles you wear today with pride

Will be gone on the morrow, thrown away

And behind a mask you’ll always hide.

Shuffling feet and worried faces

Doctors impassive and cold

Shaking heads, and fading footsteps

It was truth, not lies, we told.

The world will crash, the world will burn

Taking true believers down too

They await a second coming

But the apocalypse is almost through.

Allies yell obscenities

Aimed at those who keep us here

They lock us in, and turn away

For we are society’s finest mirror.

The chaos you fear is the chaos within

And the words you’ll never say

Will cripple you, and hinder you

And you will trip and fall, come doomsday.

And when it happens, for it will

We’ll be the ones to write the tale

We’ll be safe, with our padded walls

But you will fall, and you will fail.

I will never fly? What? Now that's insane! :)

The piece is intense and a message for those that seem to live in a straight line and think that is the only path to tread. Kudos.

Clearly a guided piece, simple but perfect.

Trapped inside your own mind is what I think of when I read this.
