I Hope I Fall From the EdgeA Poem by Shayla SayerPerhaps falling in the future may be a bad idea. I stand on the edge of the chasm The chasm of oblivion And stare into its dark blue depths. I stand here, after crawling out of the very same chasm Only moments ago And I look, and admire For I miss its all-encompassing hold. I love it I want it Please give it to me For anything at all is better than this hope Bound and readied for slaughter A sacrifice to feed the growing hunger That hides behind the face of humanity. I stand here, untouched by the bellowing winds Unfeeling. I am not blocked off from emotion I have not become this way by choice. I am lost within the emptiness in my breast I am lost For I poured all I had inside Into those words I said Those words I meant. And now that anything spoken is carried away By the winds I cannot feel I have nothing to hold me here And I stare into this chasm Hoping to fall again Into oblivion. © 2011 Shayla SayerReviews |
