The Little Princess

The Little Princess

A Poem by Shayla Sayer
"

a spinoff of the little prince...

"

there is a child

whose eyes hold years

far more than her own few

there is a child

whose tears are wept

for the sin of the ageless

the creation of the ultimate scapegoat

...her.

there is a child

who calls out

but the monsters she fears

do not reside

beneath the bed

but rather

are lodged within her mind

as she hides beneath the covers

in hope of concealing her torment

for there is no one who would understand.

no one to believe

or comfort her

there is a child

alone on a planet

whose sole other occupant

is a sunflower

that wilts and dies

for half the year--

leaving her with no one.

there is a child

a little princess

who bears her lonliness

with a teary smile

as she practices dance moves

no one taught her

for there is no rhythm

as she sways beneath

a darkened sky...

only the stars bear witness.

Shayla, Shayla, Shayla. You are so elegantly impressive when you pen your thoughts and emotions to paper. They flow in such devine definitions of heartache, passion, loss, angst and so many others, too many to list.

I lonely little child on a planet who calls out to anyone who will hear because of her fears: her monsters do not reside beneath her bed but rather are lodged within her mind". Are you this lonely child or do you write in abstract allegorys?
You are so young and delicate looking in your photo, to write with such expression, wizdom and talent.
I'm touched and impressed with your work
