A Throne Made of Stars

A Throne Made of Stars

A Poem by Shayla Sayer

a throne stands

lonesome

for none sit upon it

made of stars

and moondust--

it hovers in the frigid night air

lonesome

it exists, yes--

but that is all

for none are asride it

and therefore--

is it really even real?

lonesome--

angels flock around it

like pidgeons

round an empty park bench

looking, searching

for him for whom

the chair was built...

not finding him

((for never did he exist!!))

they wring their hands

in abstract wonder--

maybe someone is in the throne

maybe someone is--

and so they bring their offerings

to a god who never lived.

Very imaginative and beautiful, with such lonely feelings .
A question, the phrase you used: "for none are asride it". Should that be "astride"?
