Shadow AngelA Poem by Shayla Sayer
No one can sin Quite like an angel.
She saw him and knew" Though she tried to deny it Closed her eyes and pretended he wasn’t there. And upon opening her eyes She found" He wasn’t. He was sitting right beside her.
It was then That the white angel Was stained.
The world threw a shadow Across her profile" A darkness No light could banish. She wasn’t evil" Just no longer pure As her desires Changed the tide.
An abomination" The unthinkable And shunned.
Cut off from her world With barriers invisible To any eye but her own. No one pushed her away They couldn’t see Her tarnished state… But she could.
The waiting was awful As bad as the doubt.
She doesn’t dare remember Cant bear to forget Whispered conversations Salvation in the words… “Can you love me?” “I can’t.” She closes her eyes" “Do you love me?” “… I can’t.”
It was then That the white angel Was lost.
There is motion In the darkness" There is poison In the love. She is only a fraction Of her former glory" Shrouded in darkness She moves through the night With wings of living shadow Singing a song Of silence.
Alone For no one can sin Quite like an angel.
