Dear Daddy

Dear Daddy

A Poem by Katerina Felinova
"

A father's disappointment can be a very powerful tool. -Michael Bergin

"
Was it so important?
To go and catch a high?
To forget about your family
And let it all slip by?

Was it so important?
To always prove your might?
To beat the ones you said you loved
All just out of spite?

Was it so important?
To ruin your daughter's life?
To break her down, to inflict pain
And cause her sleepless nights?

"Was it so important?"
Do you wonder when you're out?
In some dirty scum bags place
Popping pills into your mouth?

"Was it so important?"
I asked with that gun pressed to my head
When you cussed and swore and lost your mind
And threatened to fill me with lead.

"Was it so important?"
I screamed into your face
To leave behind the bond we had
And treat me like a disgrace?

It wasn't that important.
And there is nothing I can do
I tried to love and be a family
All that was missing was you.

Wow! This poem hit home on different levels. I hope you experienced the catharsis through writing this, because just reading it was very moving to me, especially the last line:
"It wasn't that important.
And there is nothing I can do
I tried to love and be a family
All that was missing was you."
Powerful pen!

I like the way the poem proceed. From "Was it " to "It wasn't ".The feel of poem give disturbing picture of the home and as a reader you feel sad for the girl.Overall nicely written piece.

I can see how both poems tie in together. Your story is a sad one that makes me wonder how you got through it all. Or should I say, how you are getting through it all? The flow is again very easy and tight. Good poetry Katerina.

Wow. A very sad tale, told brilliantly. I can not relate to those experiences, thank goodness, but I can understand them. Well done, for having the courage to write this.

I am so sorry you went through this. This is a simplistic, yet emotionally putrid poem. Thank you for this share. I know these words must mean a lot to you.

Staying with the family and children as my first priority.
I can eat less but I can't part with my beloved children.
I feel really sorry that your suffering was caused by your father.
I am also glad that you can live independently now.
I hope you will overcome all emotional problems by your zeal and personality.
