Plodding

Why did he follow so close?

Was he in a hurry?

He couldn’t have been

because, I was walking slow

and each of my leisurely, long

strides were followed by a

squeak of his tennis shoes

The man didn’t try to pass,

in fact I don’t think he even

knew I was there

His headphones were

buried deep into his

ear drum, where

natural sound didn’t exist

As I mentioned, I wasn’t

in a hurry but just trying

to enjoy the air

His mannerisms destroyed

that for me

I was fixated on him

going away be he didn’t

and continued to follow
