Story #10: It's December and that means the Winter Formal. Every girl wants to go with Shawn. No one is asking Courtney. Shawn's sister helps her out. Courtney finally gets a date. But how does Shawn feel about it? Read to find out!

"

Shawn walked into school on Tuesday, December 1, 2009. As soon as all of the girls saw him walk into the school, they all ran up to him.

"Shawn, will you go to the dance with me!"

"Shawn! I love you, Shawn!"

"I'm still dateless to the dance, Shawn!"

"Shawn, call me!"

Those sentences and more were yelled at Shawn by various girls. Shawn smiled his charming smile and he ran his fingers through his hair. The screams got louder. Shawn saw Courtney standing by her locker watching him and laughing. He pushed through the girls to get to her. When he finally got through, the girls seemed to take the hint and they walked away.

"Girls asking me to a dance. It must be December." Shawn said to Courtney as he smiled.

"Is that seriously how you keep track of the months?" Courtney asked.

'Uh-huh. It's useful. So, Court. Who should I go with?"

"Who do you want to go with?"

"Well, let's see..." Shawn turned around to face a group of girls. "There's Katelyn, Morgan, Gina, Megan, Allie, Christina, Rachel, Julie, and ooh, Lilly.

"You're asking Lilly, aren't you?"

"Yep," Shawn looked back at Courtney, "Tomorrow. Or Thursday."

"Why not today?"

"I love watching all of these girls chase after me. It's what I look forward to all year." Shawn smiled.

"I don't get it." Courtney said.

"What's not to get? December. Winter formal. Girls. Ask. Me. To. The. Dance."

"No, no. Not that. The fact that you can have any girl in this school."

"Oh, I can't have any girl."

"Really? Then who can't you get?"

"Lana Lee."

Just then, Lana walked passed Shawn.

"Hey, Shawn. Hope to see you at the dance on Friday." She said before she walked away.

Shawn looked at Courtney. "Hey, that was pure luck. She's never done that before."

"Ugh, you just don't get it! Girls just love you. They seem to have a thing for you. Guys...they just walk right through me like I don't even exist."

"Oh, guys don't walk right through you! There's some guys who like you, Court."

"Like who?"

"Well you got Jeremiah, Bryan...Jeremiah."

"Wow, two guys! You've got all the girls in the grade wrapped around your finger."

"Well, then what do you want me to do?"

"Teach me to be like you!"

"Well, I don't know how great that's gonna work out considering your a girl and I'm a guy. But if you really want help, ask my sister."

"That's a great idea! Thanks Shawn! I'll be over right after school!" Courtney walked away.

Once Courtney walked away, all of the girls started running up to him calling out his name.

"Man, I love December." Shawn said to himself.

The next day, Rebecca, Shawn's sister, had just finished giving Courtney a new look.

"Okay, Courtney. We're ready!" Rebecca yelled from the bottom of the steps in the Adams' house.

Courtney walked down the stairs. Her hair was longer thanks to extensions and it was curly. She had light make-up on. She was wearing a fuchsia, flowy, tanktop and black skinny jeans.

Everyone, Shawn, Mr. and Mrs. Adams, and Rebecca stared at her in awe. Especially Shawn.

"Well, what do you think?" Courtney asked.

"You look beautiful, Courtney." Mrs. Adams said.

"Thanks." Courtney said. "What do you think, Shawn?"

Shawn zoned back in. "Huh? Oh. You like nice."

"Yay! This is what I'm wearing to school tomorrow. Thanks so much, Rebecca!" Courtney walked up to her and hugged her.

"No problem, Courtney. You look very nice."

"Thanks again! Well, I gotta go. See ya tomorrow at school, Shawn."

"Yeah. See ya." Shawn said just before Courtney closed the door behind her.

~~~~~~~~~~
Courtney walked into school the next day. As she walked to her locker, all of the guys turned their heads and watched Courtney. She smiled to herself.
"So. You finally got what you wanted. How is it?" Shawn asked at her locker.
"Not bad. But no one has asked me yet."
"Give it time. Someone'll come around."
"Hey, Courtney." Dillon Williams, a boy in their grade, said. "Do you have a date to the dance yet?"
"Looks like I spoke too soon." Shawn said quietly to himself.
Courtney glared at Shawn. "No. Unfortunately I don't. But why you asking, Dillon?"
"No reason. I was just wondering if you would like to be my date considering I don't have on either." He said.
Courtney smiled. "Of course, Dillon, I'd love to go with you."
"Great. Pick ya up at eight." Dillon said before he walked away.
"Oh my God, Shawn! I've been trying to--"
"Shh! Don't look too eager. If you wanna be like me, smile and relax. But not too big of a smile." Shawn said.
"Right, right. So. Have you asked Lilly yet?" Courtney asked.
"Nope. Not yet."
"You are going to, right?"
"Yeah, yeah. Of course. I was just waiting for the right moment."
"Well you should do it right now."
"Why?"
"The dance is tomorrow!"
"Oh, yeah. Okay. Here I go. How's my hair?"
Courtney laughed. "Don't worry about your hair. Just charm her and she'll say yes."
"Okay." Shawn walked up to Lilly. "Hey, Lilly." Shawn said with his charming smile.
"Hello, Shawn." Lilly said.
"You have a date to the dance yet?"
"No. I don't." Lilly smiled.
"Great. You'd probably look even more beautiful in my arms. Pick ya up at eight." Shawn smiled.
"I'll be there." Lilly said while also smiling. All of the girls around her had jealous faces on. They all walked away mad.
~~~~~~~~~~

At the dance, Courtney and Dillon were having a great time. Lilly and Shawn on the other hand weren't having such a good time. Shawn kept looking over at Courtney. He thought that she looked very beautiful and he would do anything to be in Dillon's place. Lilly noticed something was wrong with him.

"Shawn, you okay?" She asked. Shawn kept staring at Courtney. "Shawn."

"Huh? Oh. Yeah, I-I'm fine."

"Are you sure? You're not lying to me, are you Shawn?"

"What? No. No."

"Then what's wrong? You seem so distant. Like you don't want to be here with me."

"But I do, Lilly. I do."

"Then why do you keep staring at Courtney?"

"Courtney? Courtney who?"

"Shawn! You know! You're best friend!"

"Oh. Her. What makes you think I'm staring at her?"

"I can just tell, Shawn. Look, if you really want to be with her then just go."

"But I don't. I wanna be with you."

"That's what your saying but not what you're showing. I should've never said yes to you."

"Lilly, what are you saying?"

"That maybe sometimes the lucky girl ain't so lucky after all. Go ahead. Go have fun with her. I'll understand. And besides. You like her. You should've asked her to the dance...not me."

"Lilly..."

"Shawn, really...it's okay."

"But I--"

"Goodbye, Shawn. Hopefully I'll talk to you soon." Lilly walked away.

"Hold on, Dillon. I'll be right back." Courtney said. She then walked over to Shawn.

"What just happened?"

"Huh?"

"Lilly. She left you here. What happened?"

"Oh. Nothing. Who knows what she was thinking. She was probably just sensitive."

"Oh. Well, I'm sorry, Shawn."

"It's alright."

"Hey, everyone! Shawn Adams' is alone!" A girl yelled. Then suddenly all of the girls rushed up to him.

"Ah, it must be December, Court. It must be December." Shawn said as he picked a random girl and he danced with her.

"Yeah. It must be." Courtney said sadly before she walked back to Dillon.
