Mia and Shawn were sitting on Shawn's couch kissing. When they broke apart, Mia spoke.
"I'm the luckiest girl in the world." She said.
"And why is that?" Shawn said with his charming smile.
"Because I am Shawn Adams' girlfriend. I bet a thousand girls would love to be in this position right now."
"Only a thousand?" Shawn smiled. Mia laughed and she kissed him again.
"I love you, Shawn."
"I love you, too, Cour--Mia!"
"Were you about to say Courtney?"
"What?! N-no. It was...it was just my voice."
"Are you sure because I could've sworn I heard you say 'Cour' as in 'Courtney'."
"No, Mia. It was just my voice. It was probably this cough I had this morning."
"Are you sure, Shawn?"
"I am sure, Mia. It was just my voice."
"Okay. Well, I gotta go. I'll see you tomorrow, Shawn." She quickly kissed him and then she left the house.
Shawn sighed. He knew that Mia could see right through his lie. He didn't like lying to Mia but he just couldn't make her mad again. He couldn't afford to lose her. He loved her. He's never felt this way about a girl before. He was holding on to her as tight as he could.

"I still can't believe you called her Courtney!" Courtney said.
"Hey. I almost did. And can you please stop reminding me. I'm trying to forget about it so it doesn't happen again."
"Hey, Shawn."
"What?"
"Remember what I said when Mia first asked you out?"
"No. What?"
"Be careful."

The next night, Shawn and Mia were on a date. Everything was going great. Shawn thought before he spoke and he kept his charming smiling on him all night hoping Mia would forget about the name slip the other day.
"You wanna know something?" Shawn asked.
"What?" Mia answered.
Shawn leaned in and kissed her.
"I love you." He said with his smile.
"I already knew that." Mia answered while also smiling.
"I was just making sure."
Later in the night, Shawn walked Mia to her house.
"I had possibly the best night with you, Shawn." Mia said as they got to her doorstep.
"Me, too, Mia. Me, too." Shawn said.
"Well, goodnight, Shawn."
Shawn kissed her.
"Goodnight, Courtney." Shawn said. He then realized what he said. His eyes got wide.
"You just called me Courtney! Shawn, how could you?!"
"I-I'm sorry, Mia. I really am!"
"I can't believe this, Shawn! How could you call me Courtney!"
"Mia! Listen. I'm sorry. It was a mistake. It won't happen again. I promise."
"You're right. It won't happen again. Because I never want to talk to you again."
"Mia, no."
"I'm sorry Shawn but...I don't think this will work anymore. I'm breaking up with you. I'm sorry, Shawn. I really am."
"Mia..."
"I'm sorry. But I can't be with someone who can't even remember my name. Goodbye, Shawn." Mia opened her door, walked into her house, and closed the door.
Shawn couldn't believe it. He just couldn't. He sighed and then turn around and walked away. He didn't look back.

Shawn walked into school on Monday looking sad. He walked over to Courtney at her locker.
"It's official. Me and Mia. Over." He said.
"What? Shawn, I'm so sorry." Courtney replied.
"Yeah, me too. You know why?"
"Why?"
"I wasn't careful. I said your name again."
Courtney immediately hugged him. "Shawn, I'm so sorry. I'm not blaming you but I told you to be careful. She breaks up with every guy she goes out with."
"Yeah." They pulled apart. "But to be honest. Losing her wasn't as bad as I thought it would be."
"Well that's good."
"Yeah. And as I look at it. I don't really have any major regrets. She's a good person. I won't forget her."
"Hey, everybody! Shawn Adams is single!" Yelled a girl in their grade. Suddenly all of the girls rushed over to Shawn.
"Well, look at the brightside, Shawn." Courtney said.
"Oh I am, Courtney. I am." Shawn smiled as he looked at all of the girls screaming out his name.
