Double Date

Story #7: Shawn notices Courtney is lonely so he sets her up with his friends to go on a double date with himself and Mia. This leads to Shawn realizing something at the end.

"Hey, Shawn. You wanna see a movie tonight or something?" Courtney asked.

"Ooh. I'd love to but I've got a date with Mia tonight. Sorry." Shawn replied.

"Hey, Shawn. You wanna come over and we can hang out?" Courtney asked.

"Sorry, I've already made plans with Mia for the day." Shawn replied.

"Hey, Shawn. You wanna--"

"Whatever it is, I'm sorry, Courtney. I can't. Mia needs me right now."

"Hey, Courtney. You okay?" Shawn asked the next day, Friday, at school. Courtney was at her locker. Shawn and Mia were holding hands.

"Hm? Yeah. I'm alright." Courtney answered.

"Listen. You wanna hang out with me and Mia someday?"

"I don't think that's such a good idea."

"Well, what if I told you I got you a date."

"But on the other hand, I'm free!"

"Great. Pick ya up a eight." Shawn said smiling.

"Huh?"

"I mean! ...He'll pick you up at eight."

Courtney's doorbell rang later that night. She was so excited to see who her date was. She walked over to the door and opened. She was surprised.

"Jeremiah!" She exclaimed.

"Hey, Court--" Jeremiah looked at her. "Whoa. You looking amazing."

"Thanks. You don't look half bad yourself.

Jeremiah smiled at her. "Well, let's go." He put out his arm for her to take and she took it.

For the date they all went to a fancy Italian restaurant. Jeremiah and Courtney were having a great time. Shawn and Mia were also having a good time but not as great as Jeremiah and Courtney.

"Excuse me, Jere. I'm just going to use the bathroom. I'll be back in a minute." Courtney said.

"Yeah. Me, too." Mia said.

"I'll miss you!" Jeremiah said.

The girls walked off to the bathroom.

"Man, Courtney's something, isn't she?" Jeremiah asked Shawn.

"Yeah...she is."

"Hey, don't get mad at me. You set this up."

"But I didn't know you liked her this much."

"Well, now you do. And besides, you have Mia."

"Yeah, but she's--"

"Not Courtney?"

"Yeah." Shawn said sadly. "I mean, I like her and all that. But, Courtney's my best friend and I just don't wanna lose her."

Meanwhile, Courtney and Mia were talking in the bathroom.

"You're so lucky you have a guy like, Jeremiah." Mia said.

"But you have, Shawn! He's the best!"

"Yeah. He's really sweet. But he seems a little...distant. Like he doesn't really like me."

"But he does! Trust me."

"Yeah. But there's only one problem."

"What?"

"He talks about you. Non-stop."

"He does?"

"Yeah. And Shawn's a sweet guy and all, but I just don't think it'll work out."

"What? No! Just give him more time. He'll come around."

"But when? When, Courtney?"

"Trust me. He will."

"I don't know. I guess I'll give him another week or two."

"Yeah. You'll realize what a great guy Shawn really is. Hold on to him. As tight as you can. Don't let him go. You'll regret." Courtney said.

"Hey, Shawn." Courtney said on Monday at school. Shawn turned around to see Courtney standing next to Jeremiah.

"Hey, Courtney. Hey...Jeremiah." Shawn looked at them. "So are you guys..."

"No!" Jeremiah and Courtney said in unison.

"I just came here to talk to you." Jeremiah said.

"Okay, well, I'll see ya later, Shawn." Courtney walked away.

"What's up?" Shawn asked.

"Listen. If you want Courtney you can have her. I won't get in your way."

"What? Me and Courtney? Nah. Besides...I have Mia."

"Really?"

"Yeah."

"Well, I still won't get in your way. You might change your mind. I just hope when you do...it's not too late." Jeremiah said and then he walked away.

Shawn thought for a minute. He looked over at Courtney and then to Mia. He walked up to Mia, took her hand, and kissed her. When they pulled apart, Shawn saw jealous faces of some of the girls in their grade. He smiled to himself.

"What was that for?" Mia asked.

"I just wanted to make you know that I love you." Shawn said with his charming smile.

Mia smiled to herself. "Yeah, I do." She said as she hugged Shawn.

Lovely chapter! I like how you made the story one big book instead of the little stories. I like how Shawn kissed Mia at school. It's romatic and it shows her that he dosent care whos around hes going to show people that he "loves" her. Nice chapter!
