No Surrender

No Surrender

A Poem by writerofshadows

The dusk of man

Night closes in

As the sun sets on humanity

And all its scattered remnants

Stand defiantly waiting

Watching

Wondering

What mark did they make

In the scheme of things

Did anything matter

Will they be remembered

Will they be missed

They stand ready

To force the sun to rise again

To make the night give way

If only for one more day

They will face the end

Knowing that made a mark

If only a scratch

No regrets

Braced and ready

For the sky to fall

United hands

Ready

Waiting

To catch what they can

Humanity will live

Or die trying

Survive or not

But quietly it will not go

Countless screams

And countless pounding feet

Charge forward to meet the end

Or…

Perhaps

A new beginning
