Sadly Reminiscent

Sadly Reminiscent

A Poem by writerofshadows

Memories long since missing
Or maybe purposely misplaced
Blocked out long ago
Crashing back as the dam breaks
Barriers ripping like paper
All that pain
All that sadness
All of it returning
Those looming memories
Grinning like the cheshire
Proving so coldly
That you can't ignore truth
You can't flee reality
You can only hold it off
While it builds up strength
Feeding off time and insecurity
Until it crashes through those walls
You so proudly put in place
And this flood breaks through
Destroy all that stands in its way
Wiping everything clean
The ultimate cleansing
Born of hatred supressed
Now burning everything away
Filling everything with those lost feelings
Loneliness
Sadness
Sorrow
Dispair
Anger
Hatred
Each emotion compounding on the one before
Filling everyone
Everything
With emptiness
