Slip and Slide

Slip and Slide

A Poem by Shash

Slip and Slide
Another way of squandering such vitality,
Churning, swirling life-like dreams down the drain for plastic cups of utopian banality
It was so soft and sweet, you make me wanna take it all back
Find a real world worth living at
Immobile whilst sprinting up a plastic bag of soap water and cold hose water
I went down electrically easily
Lightening struck those summer dreams into bittersweet
As bubbles rose up and scrubbed her out of me, tickling the inside of my eyelids raw
Vacuous vastness of dark summer skies blind me
Binding me to the spot where i was once so full of glee
Slip and slide, disappearing-
So easily
Mirror in the sky of who i used to be
A continuous drum, pumping out water and soap
You know she's only making things harder for herself
Stop slipping and and walk on all fours
As the forest floor sheds leaves into its earthy pores
Rich, hidden instinctive scent of wet mud and paws
No more sky, only a heavy, abundant land under your fingered claws
