Four Soft Words

Four Soft Words

A Poem by Sharkapillar
"

found this under my piano. I'd recognize my handwriting anywhere.

"

People are hard to fix

But easy to break

Easily destroyed

And harder to make

Those stitches may be pulled tight

But not after they snap

They're no less transient

Than that flimsy gauze wrap

Darker than black licorice

A heart and mascara tears

Spill over the dam

You've built over the years

We're humans and animals

Not patchwork quilts

We're just the thorns on roses

But we still manage to wilt

Because people can't be fixed

But are so easily broken

Easily devastated

Just by four soft words spoken--

I never loved you.

Oh, wow. Soft and powerful, like the four soft words uttered. The last stanza was my favourite:
"Because people can't be fixed

But are so easily broken

Easily devastated

Just by four soft words spoken--"
The part about people being so easy to break but hard to fix really rings true. great, great poem.
And hilarious you found it under the piano. Under OUR piano is probably a nest of cockroaches, urgh!

This is such a beautiful and sad poem… The words were very powerful, and the flow was good. This is a really great poem, and you're really talented.
