Taller, TallestA Poem by SharkapillarOlder poem. I found the rough draft while cleaning my room.I stood up, I blocked the sun Seemed to me, I'd been outdone I reached out without thinking Caught a bird by its wing
An ironic set of symbols here The Thrashing the Trapped the Fear Sort of like I, confined to just one world Just waiting to burst free with wings unfurled
I reach out with my left hand Take the setting sun from sinking sand I hold it far out into space and drop it And take the waning moon out of my pocket
And I hang her in the starry sky As an emblem of daylight's short goodbye I place the caught bird atop the shimmery dust Knowing I can do nothing--too late fix all unjusts. © 2010 Sharkapillar |
