Promise To Myself

Promise To Myself

A Poem by Sharkapillar
"

Written after an interesting conversation with a dear friend at about 11 PM last night.

"

I know we all, will have downfalls

And we'll all live some lies,

Break promises we made to ourselves

Lose track of unsuccessful tries

Love-land is for danger

Like the sky is for the stars

And the Afterlife's for the screaming

Of a thousand broken hearts

One shatter leaves an echo

As an empty promise breaks

Splinters like glass, like fragile hearts

It's the sound of a mistake

No more, no more, no more, say I

A promise I'll likely turn from

But I try to walk the path I set

Until days are done...

Don't undermine my promise

Though you don't even have to try

I know you'd never hurt me

But I still don't want to cry

I'm so used to broken promises

To drowning in the lies

Of those who came before you,

Who brought tears to my eyes

The human heart is an organ,

But not one you can play

If you were to play with someone's heart

They'd surely turn away

Love is full of danger,

Best you mind to wishing stars

Keep your feelings locked within you

To avoid breaking my heart

Freaking amazing poem.
And that's just an understatement.

The words just...flow, as "Senseless Whatever" said.

"Loveland is for danger
Like the sky is for the stars
And the afterlife's for the screaming
Of a thousand broken hearts"

^_^ My favorite part. It all fits so perfectly together.

In retrospect, I love this poem. It's incredible. [:

This is ridiculously good! Such true themes, and beautiful expressions. "I'm so used to broken promises, To drowning in the lies"; brilliant.

This is such a sweet piece. My favorite part has to be:
"The human heart's an organ
But not one you can play
If you play with someone's heart
They are sure to turn away"
Not many people express that as well as you did.
I love the message behind it. Your friendship must be incredible♥. I can relate, so it makes it just as more compelling. This is a great piece of work and it's definitely going to be added to my library as a favorite.
Keep up the great work, hun.

holy cow... my jaw litterally fell. I am not joking, this is by far the best poem i have ever read in my life. If i wasnt broke i would give you money. Thank you so much for sharing this. Holy cow, amazing, beautiful work. The line "and the afterlife's for screaming of a thousand broken hearts" just struck me. I can relate to this poem, so it was very emotional and strong. Each word was a peice of art. Amazing job.

Outstanding, One of your best works, hands down. This poem flows so freely, hiding emotion while bleeding it at the same time. I am speechless.
