Freedom

Freedom

A Poem by Sharkapillar

I never thought I was caged before

But apparently I was

Why else would I feel this

Relief, this sense of Freedom

Wash over me

Like a bird trapped in a cage of gold

Escaping through a fault in the wire,

Fluttering about in an ecsatic dance

Singing to all, news of her freedom

As I do now

I now understand

The saying, "Free as a Bird"

I am no-one's now

And no one is mine

No more need for insecurity, or worry

But minor sadism

And true happiness

They're one in the same, in my mind

I bite back my words

But it isn't long before they spill

F**k you--I don't love you.

I don't think I ever did.

Wow. I really liked this. Reminds me of my last relationship. F**k you--I don't love you. I don't think I ever did. Powerful stuff, and real as it gets.

Loved the strong message. It is amazing the sense of self that ending a (wrong) relationship can bring. Well placed expletive too - makes the end 'snap'!

Great job! Message was strong without being too explicit :)

I really love this poem. At first, it felt vague, I was wondering what you were trapped in, what was the whole start, and I understood it near the end. I love your word flow and it was very well-written. Very enjoyable and understandable piece.

A strong poem, only when apart from someone that you thought you liked. You can finally understand if you really liked them or not. Relationships come and go. Finding the true one is the hard thing! thanks for sharing.
