Chasing Shadows

Chasing Shadows

A Poem by Sharkapillar
"

Kind of random, and completely different than my usual. Not depressing, not gory, not...me

"

Bay leaves beneath my pillow and a head full of spells

Dreaming up adventures for I have none to tell

Our feet they make footprints in the leaves and the dirt

As we walk from the palce which we just did desert

Blood, dark blood, sinister as it drips

From our imaginations and from our fingertips

Sunlight peeks shyly from the umbrellas of tree leaves

Scares away the shadows, they run like caught thieves

In unspoken agreement, we break into a run

Chasing them down, armed with the glit'ring sun

Flying over stick and stone, now hot on their tails

Stumbling over nothing although on unmarked trails

Spend all day chasing shadows, until the sun goes away

The shadows stop fleeing, suddenly we're the prey

So we run back to our homes, laughing, as twilight fell

So now back to dreaming up adventures so I'll have more to tell.
