Job application of a poet

Can a poet find a real job? But, what can stop him from trying right?

Dear sir/madam,

I was standing at life's crossroads

and found that you are looking for a man of ideas and words.

While searching for companies, I found

that yours made a connection and a unique bond.

Between the customer and client,

you make the golden bridge.

Pushing decisions of those

standing at the edge.

 

In my portfolio, you can find the poems & stories I made.

I make sure that whatever I create shall never fade.

 

I use the ideas that work for today's time and age.

I arrest their attention; they won't flip the page.

Without further adieu, please find my resume below

My internships, research materials and achievements shows,

that I shall be an asset to your creative force.

If you like my work, if you think I am right for your place.

Call me for an interview; we can meet face to face.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Author's Note

I work at an advertising agency. This is something that I have actually written while applying for companies. Though none of them reverted to this bizarre poem. I hope now that I can use it to amuse you all, my friends.

As I only write to "entertain", I enjoyed this tongue in cheek job application. Advertising relies on creative minds and unique approaches, and this fits those criteria..But.....these days, job applications are rarerly even acknowledged unless they are successful.

What a peculiar way to apply for a job! It's their complete loss for not hiring you. If I were a boss, I would read this and smile and inquire more about who created this work. We have enough machine-men and robots and salespersons as it is! We need employees who see and speak wonder, beauty and art!

Well it made me realise I don't care what people think of my writing and I don't need to fill out a job application as a poet to justify myself : D . I will just go ahead and write and publish what I like thank you very much lol

I totally agree with that... I can understand even here how different people point out different aspects which they liked in our writing.
I think the challenge is to how many subjunctive views can we appeal to with our writing.

What a great poem! I really like this one, it's such a good and unique idea. I can't believe they never responded to you. This would definitely make a candidate stand out though, and I'd go over their materials in more detail.

I especially enjoyed the stanza "If you like my ..." - even that alone would be good as the end of an introductory letter.
