Job application of a poet

Can a poet find a real job? But, what can stop him from trying right?

Dear sir/madam,

I was standing at life's crossroads

and found that you are looking for a man of ideas and words.

While searching for companies, I found

that yours made a connection and a unique bond.

Between the customer and client,

you make the golden bridge.

Pushing decisions of those

standing at the edge.

 

In my portfolio, you can find the poems & stories I made.

I make sure that whatever I create shall never fade.

 

I use the ideas that work for today's time and age.

I arrest their attention; they won't flip the page.

Without further adieu, please find my resume below

My internships, research materials and achievements shows,

that I shall be an asset to your creative force.

If you like my work, if you think I am right for your place.

Call me for an interview; we can meet face to face.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Author's Note

I work at an advertising agency. This is something that I have actually written while applying for companies. Though none of them reverted to this bizarre poem. I hope now that I can use it to amuse you all, my friends.

As I only write to "entertain", I enjoyed this tongue in cheek job application. Advertising relies on creative minds and unique approaches, and this fits those criteria..But.....these days, job applications are rarerly even acknowledged unless they are successful.

I feel the line "I make sure that whatever I create shall never fade." was the most important because I feel that is the true goal of becoming/being a writer. Well, that's certainly why I write, though I'm not needing to be published, but hoping to one day work up the courage for that. This was a very powerful application and it has a true voice that could be effective for the correct type of people who are interested in reviewing/considering whatever you decided to submit. I have a poetry book written and ready for publishing, but putting it on hold until I can personally afford the services on my own...great and inspiring write! I really enjoyed it.

This was really cool. I like thinking out of the box stuff and things that are different to the norm. I did have fun reading this and would love to have been a fly on the wall if any possible employer had read this.

Interesting. If I were hiring people, this would actually get my attention because it's so different. So many people list their accomplishments only, and I would be wondering about the possibilities for a future. This is outside of the box, and creative.

Well, they do have a separate creativity test which they use to get ideas from prospective candidates...
