I would see her every day.
From
my balcony, it was a splendid view to hers.
She would be reading, sleeping and
sometimes dancing to a tune.
I would see her play her life every day from Jan
to June.
One day she waved at me,
like a
lightning shot up my arms, I waved back.
She smiled and then pointed
downstairs.
“You want me to come
downstairs?” I replied in sign language.
Smart girl she is, she
understood and nodded. She disappeared to her room.
I wore my best black shirt and Levi’s jeans.
I
should be the prettiest first date she has ever seen.
I came down my flat and saw a
small group of dudes waiting for me.
I saw the girl at their side waiting for
me.
They gave me two black eyes and
a twisted arm.
I promised them I would be of no more harm.
From that day onward, I made
my mind fit.
I would turn around my chair, away from the balcony, and only then would I sit.
