Twist

Twist

A Poem by Shane Patrick C.

I opened up enough for you to slip

The serrated dagger beneath my ribs

Deep enough to slit my heart

My foolish decision from the start

Your sly move with such cunning twist

I grasp the deception in my clenching fist

What is it that you want from me?

Other than to con my generosity

To be honest with you, there's not much more you can take

Long ago I buried my heart,. And lost the stake that marked its place.
