Her Scent

Her Scent

A Poem by ShaneBerry

Her Scent

Her Scent

Though she is absent from me physically every day,

My love for her grows stronger with each passing moment.

My want to be near her hits me like a wave every time I lay for bed.

A chain reaction that starts with a scent.

Her scent, one which I will never forget.

I know not if she wears perfume,

And if she does not then I will wish for her to never.

This scent that tantalizes my mind, and enriches my soul with happiness.

Every day I do not see her, every day she and I are apart.

But the scent still lingers,

It is dispersed, by my heart.

It is the scent of her neck as I kissed it,

The scent of her hair as my chin rested upon it.

It is the feel of her hand like silk,

The texture of her skin, white like milk.

The color of her eyes,

As green as mine.

It is each soft and enchanting kiss she laid upon my lips.

It is the feel of my curious hand rested on her hips.

It is the yearning to be near.

It is her sweet voice my deaf ears can still hear.

It is the scent, the smell, the odor and indulgent perfume of Love.

Your poem is moving. It speaks of feelings that defy expression, but you expressed them beautifully. I can almost see her and feel her in your words. There is nothing creepy about recognizing a person by their scent. It is the purest essence of intimacy. Your words reveal a deep soul.
