Love You Always

“I love you Kayla” I say in fear,

not know if from your lips the same words I would hear.

               “Do you really?” you ask looking at the ceiling.

               “Yes, I do.” I say what I am feeling.

               “Well, I love you too.” You say face turning red.

Lying in my bed.

Are lips sealed together, you hands on the back of my nervous head.

My eyes closed, and opened to see that you too where lost in this moment.

They closed again, savoring every last second.

Your bottom lip moves forward, and as does mine,

Pushing against each other, time and time again.

My tongue wanted to move forward, but did not want this kiss to end.

We inhale and exhale over and over again.

 

We have to force ourselves to stop for the moment,

I roll away unable to control any muscle in my body.

You smile and ask,

               “Was that worth the wait?”

And joke that you have been waiting since we were in grade eight.  

I am happy as I have ever been, and wrap my arms around you now.

 

In this one moment. In this one day. I made a promise to myself, to love you Kayla Marie Novak, always.
