Green Eye's

Green Eye's

A Poem by ShaneBerry

Green Eye’s

Your thin hand held in mine.

I would hold you all time,

Your soft skin, pale as snow.

All of my feelings you know,

I just want to see, you and me.

And look into those eyes, brilliant green.

They’re the color of, fresh viridity.

There are things I need to say to you, words that my mind seems to vex,

Looking down an unknown road, the kind of fear you can’t confess.

That you scare me to death,

And you take away my lifeless breath.

That so easily you could crush me to the ground till there’s nothing left.

For a while there is not reply, not a word and I must dry my eyes.

And the words you say, take away all of my worry and all of my strife,

“I would do anything to never lose you in my life”

I’d been laying on clichés,

Thinking who could ever really love me.

And now I’m ready to wait,

For when we can share our love and it is no longer in debate.

Don’t look too far,

I know at times I can seem so bizarre,

I hope that doesn’t make you hesitate,

And think of me as second rate because here,

All of my words I will translate.

And put under your pillow as we are laying there.

I find I am lucky, to love one who loves me,

I find I am so happy, to trust someone, who trusts me.

Honestly ~ I love it. Ok, that said...
"the kind of fear you can’t confess.
That you scare me to death,
And you take away my lifeless breath."

I think most of us have a fear of letting go of ourselves to become something greater with another person. People were not made to be alone and only through relationships can we find out what is our inner-grit and reach our potential. This letting go is a chance we must take and with that comes the risk for not only hurt, but great, devastating hurt. Trust is what it takes to move past the fear of pain and see the happiness factor at the end.

Great write Shane and I sure enjoyed our talk last night. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Your poetry captures both the real and the dreamlike qualities of love and the bond lovers call forever. Your lines are smooth, they blossom with emotional vision and flood the readers mind with the reasons behind the words.
I find the way you have set this piece up works wonderfully for the overall dynamic that you have put to pen and have shared with us on this day.
Two thumbs up for a fantastic work of ink and poetry!

this poem is adorable, i can tell you really like this girl. i loved the message in the poem, but i felt that some of your rhyme scheme was a little forced, although i loved the use of slant rhyme. overall though, great poem :)

This is a very sweet and touching poem. The end rhyme works well and I like how you added some variation to that scheme (not all lines are strictly rhymed but you have that rhyming word within that helps the flow and keep the pattern). Good write. I look forward to reading more.
