Suspension of disbelief

Suspension of disbelief

A Story by ShaneBerry
"

we are all writers, so we have all heard of this concept, and we all need this concept otherwise we cannot make sense of the incredible things that occur in our novels, stories, and books.

"
Suspension of disbelief
What is reality?
what is air?
why can we not jump over buildings?
why can we not run through a city in a matter of seconds?
sometimes we may think it is because it is physically impossible, this is true. but why do we have to limit ourselves to that which is physically impossible? it was once thought physically impossible to fly to the moon, and after that it was thought to be physically impossible to go beyond the moon.
when you suspend disbelief from your mind you can create any scenario that you can dream, put it down on pen and paper, and share your creations with others, we are the gods of our own realities when we write, but only when we write using the concept of Suspension Of Disbelief.
so go and create your own worlds, then you can see how easy life is as god. go one step deeper into your worlds, create a history leading up to your story, create history reports made by children of your world, make every city, every store, and every person in your story come alive! if not just in your story, but in your mind.

Author's Note

ShaneBerry
i hope some of this sticks with you as you all go and create your worlds, one of the reasons i enjoy writing so much is that as an atheist, i know none of this could ever happen, but it allows me to open my mind and see the world for what it is. i am and always will be a proud Atheist, and my writing does not reflect that, because i can separate imagination from reality, and vise versa.

The great writers have made their characters part of our life. The Hemingway and Twain/London. The Stephen Kings and many others allow us to open our minds and heart to many new things. My favorite writers are Nevil Shute and Kosinski. They write of real life and pain. Your words are true. Writers have responsibility to make their story seem real and allow the reader a time to escape from real life. A excellent poem.

I like the thought that you put into this, it will definitely have me thinking. Sometimes, I think that -because- there's a God, that maybe that's why we can imagine so much... But I could be wrong o.o In any case, great food for thought and thanks for sharing!

I get what you mean, and its true. In writing, we take control of our own write, own world. Maybe something is impossible in Earth, this world, but it stories, poems, writings, who cares? Its our own choice!

I love this story and how it teaches us and clarify the truth once again. Its short and simple, but the concept is brought out well!
